Venice, 2007: several European organic fertiliser producers founded EUROFEMA in order to promote their interests at EU level.
EEUROFEMA is a confederation of national associations of MANUFACTURERS of organic and organic-mineral fertilizers.
1) Contact point for the regulatory and supervisory authorities in the European Union (harmonisation EU legislation of organic fertilisers, regulation animal by-products, …)
2) Defending the quality of organic fertilisers in the European Union, in order to safeguard the interests of both consumers and crops.
3) Promotion of organic fertilisers for the advancement of sustainable agri- & horticulture and a healthy environment.
EUROFEMA regulary sits down with it's members to exchange knowledge and formulate opinions on regulatory affairs.
Our main activity is sharing practical know-how, expertise and opinions with EU legislative bodies . Depending on topical matters EUROFEMA focuses its effort in specific programs.
Currently the main focus is on the following programs:
REVISION 2003/2003
The EU is preparing a full harmonization of its fertilizer regulation 2003/2003 . The harmonization includes increasing the scope of the regulation. The new regulation will most probably include organic and organo-mineral fertilizers, growing media, compost and maybe even biostimulants.
